Good evening Southern Wisconsin! This is going to be more of a storm update than a forecast. I did include the 5 day outlook graphic though. We will be cloudy tonight with temps in the mid 50s. There’s a chance for some late thunderstorms, but mainly west and north of Madison. These storms should behave. Light winds.
Tomorrow morning will tell us a lot on what’s going to happen tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. If those showers and storms in the morning cover most of the area and it stays wet and damp all day, then we may not get the big storms like we expect. If we can stay dry tomorrow morning and maybe tap into some sunshine, then we may get some strong to severe storms tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. The storms for tomorrow evening will be likely regardless and here’s why. A warm front will lift into northern Wisconsin at some point tomorrow. Once that warm front lifts that’s when we should see the atmosphere become unstable. Any storms that pop up tomorrow afternoon will be ahead of the cold front. These storms will likely be supercell type storms with tornadoes, damaging winds, and very large hail likely. These will be in the scattered form.. The stuff that comes in tomorrow evening is going to be in a line of storms. This line of storms will have damaging winds as the main threat, but tornadoes and large hail are also possible. This is going to be a pretty dangerous setup. Showers and storms will be possible overnight tomorrow night. Temps tomorrow during the daytime will be in the mid to upper 70s. If we can get some sunshine, I wouldn’t be shocked to see some 80s. It’s also going to be SUPER MOIST out there with dewpoints in the upper 60s. Those will provide some fuel to the fire. Temps tomorrow night will be in the mid 50s once that cold front swings through. Lake Michigan MAY help weaken the cold front storms as they get close to the lake as well.
Wednesday through Friday look to be quiet and less warm and less humid. A more active period for storms comes back just in time for the weekend. More on that as we get closer.
