Good evening Wisconsin! This morning we talked about the SPC and the outlooks that they put out. Tonight I would like to discus watches, warnings, and advisories. This post can really be used for severe storms and winter weather. If there is significant weather POSSIBLE then the National Weather Service out of Norman, OK will issue a watch. This can be anything from winter storm watches to tornado watches. This means that significant weather is possible within the next few hours. They can also issue advisories ahead of the weather. In winter, they can issues winter weather advisories and in the Summer they can put them out for flood, fog, etc. So let’s say they issue a watch and then they change it to an advisory. This is still an “upgrade”. Advisory means the weather is coming and coming soon. A watch can also go to a warning. Warnings means that significant weather is happening or going to happen shortly. Advisories are for less significant weather. I have some photos explaining everything as well!
